Dentist’s Office Art of the 1970s

Generic mountain lake scene taken in the least dramatic light possible?
Check.

Course-grained plywood pseudo-frame finished in poopy-brown and cut in a novel shape?
Check.

I can almost hear the muzak over the dentist drill.

Album Art: In the Pink Edition

I was skeptical that the gold records in the background of the cover photo were actually theirs, but, son-of-a-gun, these guys went both gold and platinum!

The Art of Goodwill

Today I’m introducing a new recurring feature here at the blog: artistic shots taken at Goodwill. I like a cheap laugh as much as the next guy, but there is a much larger challenge finding a scene that goes beyond merely poking fun at crappy consumer leftovers (and let’s face it, Goodwill is an easy target in this regard!). Here’s the first installment. More to come!

Album Cover: Multiplicity Edition

A men’s choir?

A closer look reveals...its the same guy over and over! When this was created, the guy who eventually conceived of Photoshop was probably still eating strained peas and getting his bottom powdered. Im impressed.

I...have...no...idea...

I’m speechless. Really.

Happy family toilet seat

A toilet seat is probably something I wouldn’t usually buy at Goodwill, but this one is in its original shrink-wrap, so I suppose I could make an exception in this case. What really caught my eye, however, is the picture in the lower right corner of the package label:

I won’t deny that good sanitary habits may be important to a healthy family dynamic, but what is this picture really doing here? What is it saying? “We’re such a close-knit family, we do everything together. And we mean everything.”
